Japan Trip 210309-270309 (ii)

Day 3

thats the hotel we stayed in the previous night ...
an overhead bridge away from the airport ... very convenient ...

first stop for the day ...
Osaka castle!

now the castle overdose ... weather was good that day ...

ms kuah & i are super efficient when it comes to photo taking ...
we were so on time that xiao li offered to help us take a pic while waiting for the others ...
would be nicer if the cherry blossoms started blooming ...

---

next stop shinsaibashi ...
supposedly a cheaper place to shop at ...
but we were so early most of the shops were still closed!

decided to try Osaka tako yaki!
located one with a queue & used sign language to order ...
(lol)

6 balls for JPY320 (approx SGD5.10) ...
reasonable ...
the tako balls were soft ...
with generous chunks of octopus & lots of sauce & mayo & fish flakes ...
the stall was also selling tako yaki sandwiched between some orange cracker ...
saw lots of japanese girls eating that ...
ms kuah found a souvenir shop nearby & it was souvenir shopping!
total damage on cutely packaged strawberry snack and egg spongecake JPY840 (approx SGD13.40) ...
should have bought more !!!
(souvenirs are much cheaper here as compared to tokyo)

on our way to lunch ...

2nd picture shows my tour mate carrying ALOT of shopping bags!
(side note: my hp takes pretty good quality pictures ... surprisingly ...)
buffet lunch was not worth mentioning ...
ms kuah liked the japanese curry though ...

---

next stop is the shinkansen to Kyoto!

took about 10 min?

the only place we visited in Kyoto was the kiyomizu temple ...
some of them saw geishas while we were on our way up!
(ms kuah & i didnt have such luck)

there is this matchmaking shrine near the temple ...
it was said that if you can reach the 2nd love stone from the 1st love stone while keeping your eyes closed and thinking of your lover ... the two of you r destined to be together ....
nope we didnt try ... but we did snap up some lucky charms!
1 study charm for my sis JPY500 (approx SGD7.90)
& 1 happiness one for myself JPY350 (approx SGD5.50)

there is this 'must try' sesame ice cream near the temple ...
the whole shop specialises in sesame products so it is difficult to miss!
ms kuah tried and gave her thumbs up verdict ...
(should have given it a try ... but it was cold ... & i was never fond of sesame ice cream)

---

then it was back to our hotel for the night at Kanazawa ...
was quite a long bus ride with a stopover for phototaking at biwa lake ...
once again freezing ...

dinner was spider crab meal ...
seafood is really not my thing ...
but i actually liked the sashimi ...

that sums up day 3 ...
